Funded Childcare in England: A Quick Guide for Parents (2026)
What Childcare Support Could My Family Get?
The Government offers several funded childcare schemes to help families with the cost of childcare.
👶 Working Parents of Children Aged 9 Months to School Age
If you live in England and are working, you may be entitled to 30 hours of funded childcare per week (term time) from the term after your child turns 9 months old until they start school. Eligibility depends on your employment status and income.
✅ Available for eligible working families
✅ Up to 30 hours per week for 38 weeks per year
✅ Can often be stretched across the year by your childcare provider
🧸 Eligible 2-Year-Olds
Some 2-year-olds can receive 15 hours of funded childcare per week if their family receives certain benefits or if the child meets specific criteria, such as having an EHCP, receiving Disability Living Allowance, or being looked after by the local authority.

🎨 All 3 and 4-Year-Olds

🌟WRAPAROUND CARE AT APPLETON🌟
We’re excited to be expanding our wraparound care offer from Monday 2nd November. This will include all children, from our 2-year-old provision to Year 6!
We want to expand our offer to provide families with greater flexibility, support working parents and carers, and ensure children have access to high-quality care before and after the school day.
Breakfast club is now available from age 2. Sessions run from 7:45–8:40am and cost £2 for 2-year-olds and Nursery children.
For Reception to Year 6, it’s £1 from 7:45–8:10am, followed by the free session from 8:10–8:40am.
